Ward Oval is used by a variety of sporting organisations within the Cobar Shire Council including the Cobar District Cricket Association, Cobar Netball Association, Cobar Junior Netball Association, Cobar Little Athletics’, and Cobar Junior Soccer. The Ward Oval is also well used by the community with major events like the Cobar Show held there. Cobar Shire Council has recently developed a Masterplan for Ward Oval which will guide all future development at the Ward Oval including this project.

This project includes demolishing existing old infrastructure and replacing it with a new multipurpose built centre that caters for all users at the Ward Oval facility which will include, bathrooms, changerooms, storage, dining, hall/function area and stage, industrial kitchen, canteen, and bar facilities.
