The Learner Driver program is a complete approach to all aspects of eliminating the barrier to employment of not holding or being able to gain a driver licence.

The program addresses the financial planning aspect that may prevent gaining a learners permit initiating contact with the SDRO, encouraging and assisting in an arrangement that reduces and eliminates the fines preventing from progressing with their licence or regaining their licence.

Onsite training takes place covering the Road User Handbook. All questions covered and discussed with a Birrang accredited trainer and is delivered in a culturally appropriate setting and manner. Enabling a comfortable setting to provide the most successful learning opportunity. The training provides clients with access to computers to familiarise with the format of the Learner Driver Knowledge Test and identify areas that may be problematic.

With achieving a consistent pass rate, the client is guided through the process of booking their learner test at the local RMS, and once achieved Birrang will assist in accruing their first logged driving hours. Birrang also assists clients who have already achieved their learner licence and has met their min logged hours (or close to it) to sit for their provisional licence, professional driving lessons to sit for the driving test. Assistance in practicing the Hazard perception test and confidence to sit for their driving test, to able to gain their Provisional licence.

The Driver Licencing Access program is free to eligible participants.
