CentaCare Wilcannia-Forbes

At CentaCare Wilcannia-Forbes we provide a range of programs and services to encourage and support people living in Western NSW; adapting services in response to specific needs and developing collaborative partnerships to strengthen the capacity of our rural and remote communities. Our Cobar office offers the following programs; Specialist Homelessness Service Assistance to find safe, crisis and medium term accommodation, Support and referrals to other services, assistance with applications for housing and private and public rentals, support and education for individuals and families experiencing family and domestic violence, information and support on issues such as mental health, drug and alcohol, sexual assault, legal matters and violence. Financial Counselling Financial Counsellors offer support with advocacy, negotiations, options, information and referrals and personal budgeting. Individuals are supported in making informed decisions to resolve their financial issues by accessing information specific to their circumstances. This program aims to empower individuals to gain an understanding and take control of their financial position. CentaCare’s Financial Counsellors deliver community education to improve financial literacy within our communities and to raise awareness around problem gambling issues. Family Care The FamilyCare program primarily targets families with children aged 0-12 years, but also offers support to families with children up the age of 18 years. The program provides; Parent education, Supported playgroups, Peer Support groups, School readiness programs, Individualized support. The PEDAL program is a school based playgroup model that targets families with children aged 0-5 years. The program provides play experiences that create opportunity to develop children’s social, emotional, physical, language and creative skills.
