ADAS aim to support Aboriginal people with dementia and educate them on: what is dementia? how to go about reducing the risk of dementia? This program provides skill based training for Carers to help them better understand the kind of dementia their loved ones have, to providing the skills to look after them. The program educates the community on dementia awareness, how to go about getting a diagnosis, who to see if you have cognitive decline and referring to the appropriate support service. Some referral service may include: – Local GP’s; – Aged Care Access Centre; – ACAT; – Geriatrician Palliative Care; – LHD; – Allied Health; – Community Nurse.
